Island Officials Continue to Monitor Weather
South Padre Island officials are watching developments in the Gulf of Mexico concerning Hurricane Emily.

“Although current projections show Hurricane Emily coming toward South Padre Island, the projected landfall has varied over 400 miles in the past 24 hours,” said South Padre Island Mayor Robert Pinkerton, Jr. “The storm is still a long ways off. It will be a few days before we have real precise information concerning its final path.”

Island officials believe this is a good time for residents and businesses to begin considering any preparations they may need to make for any kind of weather event.
